The Church of Saints Theodore Tyron and Theodore Stratelates in Dobarsko is an option for a short cultural outing from Bansko or Pirin Golf. Its preserved frescoes inside a small historic church are the main reason to visit; this is not a high-mountain hike. Confirm arrangements beforehand, because public opening-hours and price references do not fully agree.

Which church to look for in Dobarsko

The local Destination Razlog tourism portal dates the church to 1614 and describes a small, partly sunken three-aisled basilica with valuable frescoes and icons. It identifies it as a cultural monument of national significance and one of Bulgaria's 100 National Tourist Sites. Search for the full dedication on Peta Street so you do not confuse it with another village church.

Approach the paintings as religious art and ask the custodian or guide for an explanation. Online sensational interpretations, legends and conflicting dates are not grounds for presenting space travel, healing-water claims or a disputed earlier building date as established facts.

Getting there from Pirin Golf and Bansko

On 19 October 2026, Google Maps from Pirin Golf & Country Club Apartment Complex to Dobarsko Church showed approximately 25.3 km and 31 minutes by car via Route 84. This is a snapshot from the named starting point, not a promised journey time from every property. The map flags restricted-use or private roads along the route; use the permitted exit from the complex.

Recalculate from your actual address before leaving, allowing for parking and waiting. Check weather and road conditions in winter. No current parking tariff or guaranteed parking availability has been verified; follow local signs without blocking entrances or village streets.

No current bus timetable has been established for the complete journey from Bansko and back. Published opening hours

Destination Razlog lists daily visits from 09:00 to 17:00. A BTA reference dated 21 May 2026 gives 09:30–17:30 in April–October and 09:00–17:00 in November–March, daily. The difference has not been resolved through contact with the site.

Confirm your day, any break, last admission and group arrangements. Do not aim to arrive just before the published closing time. The tourist information centre's hours, or those of a museum in Razlog or Sofia, are not automatically the church's visiting hours.

Admission fees and an on-site explanation

No unambiguous current ticket-office tariff has been confirmed directly from the site. As a dated reference, not a guaranteed current price, BTA lists EUR 2.05 for adults, EUR 0.51 for school pupils and pensioners, and free entry for children under seven and visitors with additional needs. Confirm the amount and eligibility before travelling.

Ask separately about an explanation on site, language, duration, group arrangements and family terms. We do not apply the National History Museum's Sofia prices to Dobarsko Church. Request the total for your party, including any guiding, and check payment methods. Church admission and an organised excursion from Bansko are separate costs.

Organised visits from Bansko

Summer Bansko lists Bansko to Dobarsko as a 1–2-hour excursion. The live browser page showed EUR 45 per person, including a guide and transport but excluding museum admission. The cached web result showed EUR 40, so neither figure is presented as a confirmed quote for your date. No minimum group or guaranteed daily departures were established.
